Happy New Year guys! I know I am a tad bit late, bus still, better late than never. This is my first blog post on my new website (I lost my last one because I was very inactive and forgot to pay the domain haha) so I am eager to get off to a good start… And what better start there is than to reminisce about the New Year’s celebration.
I’m sure that all of you who are reading this have had some sort of celebration on New Year’s eve. Even though some people are strictly against it (I have no idea what’s up with them), I always prepare a show. This year, my colleagues from iMAT Mobile and I rented a small hall. It wasn’t expensive at all, just under $200 for the night. It had just enough room to fit the 10 of us, and boy did we have fun. There was lots of stuff going on which is understandable since there was 10 people involved. Long story short, we all got really, really drunk and did not have a designated driver. So, we ended up with 2 options – either call a couple of cabs to drive us all off (it would cost us way too much money since it was New Year’s Eve) or simply stay there for the night and drive off tomorrow once we sober up. So yeah, you probably already know the outcome of the story. Each and every one of us decided to sleep in.
Now don’t get me wrong. I am not an alcoholic. I am actually quite against alcohol as I consider it way more dangerous than weed. But, you know, for these types of special occasions I am always OK with drinking a glass or two… or five. Anyways, the day after was quite hectic. We were all seriously hungover and none of us was able to drive up until sometime afternoon. It was a good experience though, unlike anything I’ve ever had so far. So yeah, that’s about it. This is where my New Year’s Celebration story ends… Happy New Year once again guys. Have a great one!
Well, it has finally arrived guys! As I was mentioning in one of my previous blog posts, after testing out the awesome drone that goes by the name Aton, I just could not resist but to buy one for myself. I found drones interesting ever since they made it onto the big stage. The whole “unmanned RC flying thingy” concept was something that I just loved… but up until now, I was not able to afford one. Luckily, with my new job and all the progress I’ve been making in the last couple of months… it all resulted with a bit more cash flow coming into my pockets. Even though working as a journalist isn’t that prestigious (and well-paid) job, it is making my life a lot easier since I don’t have to rely on my parent’s money… and trust me, for a 23-year-old, that’s a huge plus!
Cutting to the chase, I just unboxed this little devil and I gotta say that I am even more hyped up about it than when I bought it. It is currently being charged (it shouldn’t take long so I will probably keep this blog post pretty short… I hope you understand why haha) which is why I am writing this blog post in the first place. Now let’s talk a bit about this awesome under $500 drone. Yup, it costs less than $500 and just look at how awesome it is. But, it’s not the looks that matter, it’s what’s under the hood that’s most important… and this guy has a ton of power down there. I believe it can fly as fast as 50 miles per hour, although I really doubt I’ll go anywhere near that speed in the first couple of weeks. Or ever. Unfortunately, it does not come with a camera. I guess I overlooked that. But, I’ll probably buy a gimbal and mount my GoPro on it. It’s gonna be great!
Anyways, I believe that it’s been more than 2 hours since I put my new baby to charge. With that in mind, I’m going to cut this blog post short here since I am really eager to get that thing up and running. Goodbye peeps, hope you have a great day!
If you guys didn’t know by now, I am a member of iMAT Mobile. It’s a non-profit organization whose goal is to bring children closer to modern technology and, hopefully, encourage them to pursue careers related to it. It’s a big thing for me since I am a huge believer in tech, and as such, I really want more children to be involved in it. They are our future. They are the backbone of our society… They will continue building on the fundaments we set up for them. That’s why it is of utter importance that we get as many children as we can into the industry. After all, it’s better for our kids to be involved in high-tech businesses, than some immigrants from God knows where. I don’t have anything against immigrants, I am just saying that I would prefer my kid to be successful than someone else’s.
With that out of the way, I would now like to express my hype regarding the first event. If you don’t know, it is going to be held in Orlando 2 weeks from now. More precisely, it starts at 6 pm at Venue 578. If there are any Orlandoans reading this, feel free to join us for the spectacle. I have some inside secrets to share with you guys. iMAT Mobile’s website states that there will be prizes given out to attendees at the end of the presentations. While the second prize is known and stated(Samsung’s Gear VR), the first one isn’t. It only says that they will give out 2 drones, without specifying which ones. Well, I got some news for you guys… Believe it or not, if you come to our event in Orlando you might just end up winning the Traxxas Aton. It’s an amazing drone that you will surely enjoy… if you win it of course. I already tested one of these bad boys out (don’t worry, we bought 3; 2 for the winners and 1 for our own aerial photography purposes) and I gotta say – they are incredible. So incredible that I already bought myself one too, and I am not impatiently waiting for it to arrive. It should arrive today so I practically cleared out my entire schedule later on.
